Hobbs Heirloom Natural 100% Cotton Wadding is a trusted favourite among quilters who appreciate the timeless feel of natural fibres. Loved for its soft texture, breathability, and traditional quilted finish, this premium cotton wadding creates beautifully cosy quilts with gentle loft and classic charm.
Made from the finest unbleached, long-staple virgin cotton, it’s naturally non-allergenic and softens further with each wash. This wadding offers excellent drape and a subtle crinkle that adds character and warmth to your finished quilt. It stitches smoothly by hand or machine and supports quilting up to 4 inches (10 cm) apart.
Best suited to light and dark fabrics, the natural cotton colour may create slight shadowing on white fabrics—so we recommend testing first if you're quilt top has white background fabric. For projects with white backgrounds, our selection of white wadding offers a great alternative for a bright finish.
This breathable cotton wadding is machine washable once quilted, with an expected shrinkage of 3–5%. Like all Hobbs quality waddings, pre-washing is not recommended.

No, pre-washing is not recommended for Hobbs Heirloom Natural 100% Cotton batting. This product is needle punched and bonded - if washed before quilting, the fibres can come apart and result in unusable wadding. It is designed to be used directly from the package.
Yes, an expected shrinkage of 3-5% will occur when washed. This natural shrinkage often contributes to the desirable "crinkled" or "antique" look in finished quilts.
