Product Description
Purple Stripe with Gold Teeth & Pull | No.5 Continuous Zip
Quietly distinctive, this Size 5 continuous zipper tape in Purple Stripe with Gold adds a refined note to bags and accessories. The tape shows a soft violet and white pinstripes and a metal-look gold coil—offering the brightness of hardware without the heft or rigidity of metal teeth. Sold by the ½ metre, your order is supplied in one continuous length when you purchase multiples, so you can cut precise runs for pockets, main openings, and organisers with minimal waste. Each ½ metre includes one matching #5 teardrop ring pull; add extra pulls if you’d like double sliders or several shorter zips from a single length.
Made for practical making, nylon coil stitches smoothly on a domestic machine and is gentler on needles than metal. It curves cleanly around round openings and boxed corners, sits flat under top-stitching, and holds up well to everyday use. Size 5 (5 mm) delivers that “bag-worthy” substance—reassuring for main closures—while remaining supple enough for pouches, wash bags, project organisers and cushion backs. The gold coil coordinates neatly with gold-tone D-rings, sliders, triglides and swivel hooks, letting you carry a cohesive hardware story through your project.
Because this is continuous zip, you control the details. Feed sliders from either direction to create single- or double-pull zips, trim to the millimetre, and finish ends to suit your pattern. The striped Purple Stripe tape gives subtle texture and depth—easy to pair with charcoal, navy, natural linen, crisp white, or floral prints that feature lavender and heather tones.

Maker’s notes
-
Use a zipper foot and a steady, moderate stitch length for parallel top-stitching.
-
Basting tape keeps layers aligned; press lightly from the wrong side if needed.
-
You can stitch across nylon coil when a pattern requires it; avoid this on metal teeth.
-
To finish short ends, fold back the tape and stitch, or apply fray-prevention.
If you prefer components that support clean workmanship and a polished, coordinated finish, Purple Stripe with Gold is a versatile, bag-friendly choice—flexible, dependable, and ready to elevate everyday makes.

✨ Attaching a Zipper Pull
- Separate the ends of the zip tape by a few centimetres to give yourself space.
- Place the slider so the flat side faces upward and the curved side points down.
- Insert the first side of the tape into the slider until it catches.
- Line up the second side carefully and feed it into the opposite channel.
- Push both sides in gently until the teeth begin to mesh.
- Slide the pull along the tape to check it’s secure and moving smoothly.
✂️ Snip Snip Tip: For easier threading, cut about 5 mm of the zipper teeth off one side of the tape. Feed the longer side with the teeth into the slider first, then the trimmed side — the stagger helps the pull catch and align cleanly.
Alternative: Trimming both ends of the tape on a slight angle can also help. Seal the cut edges with a quick pass of heat or fray stop to prevent unravelling.
