Product Description
Purple with Yellow Teeth & Pull | No.5 Continuous Zip
Graphic and practical in equal measure, Purple Tape & Yellow Teeth gives a crisp, high-contrast line that reads smart on finished bags and accessories. The vivid purple tape provides a rich backdrop to the yellow Size 5 nylon coil, creating a clean, sport-inspired detail that’s easy to coordinate with webbing, bindings and hardware.
Engineered for straightforward sewing, this is continuous nylon coil in Size 5 (5 mm)—robust enough for main openings yet flexible for pouches and organisers. Nylon coil feeds smoothly under a zipper foot, is kinder to domestic needles than metal teeth, and curves neatly around curves and boxed corners. The woven tape presses flat and takes top-stitching cleanly, so parallel lines are easy to achieve.
Ordering is simple. It’s sold by the ½ metre; purchase multiples and we’ll supply them in one continuous length so you can cut exact runs for pockets and larger openings with minimal waste. Each ½ metre includes one matching #5 teardrop ring pull in yellow. Add extra pulls if you plan a double slider or several shorter zips from the same length.
Colour pairing is versatile. The purple tape plays well with black, navy, charcoal, natural canvas and denim; the yellow coil offers a bright edge that helps visually map an opening and adds definition to structured shapes. Accent hardware choice is flexible—nickel for a cool contrast, brass or antique brass if you want to echo the warmth of the teeth. Because this is continuous zip, you control the configuration: feed sliders from either direction for single- or double-pull zips, trim precisely, and finish ends to suit your pattern.

Maker’s notes
-
Use a zipper foot and a steady, moderate stitch length for parallel top-stitching.
-
Basting tape keeps layers aligned; press lightly from the wrong side if needed.
-
You can stitch across nylon coil when a pattern requires it; avoid this on metal teeth.
-
To finish short ends, fold back the tape and stitch, or apply fray-prevention.
Other Details
✨ Attaching a Zipper Pull
- Separate the ends of the zip tape by a few centimetres to give yourself space.
- Place the slider so the flat side faces upward and the curved side points down.
- Insert the first side of the tape into the slider until it catches.
- Line up the second side carefully and feed it into the opposite channel.
- Push both sides in gently until the teeth begin to mesh.
- Slide the pull along the tape to check it’s secure and moving smoothly.
✂️ Snip Snip Tip: For easier threading, cut about 5 mm of the zipper teeth off one side of the tape. Feed the longer side with the teeth into the slider first, then the trimmed side — the stagger helps the pull catch and align cleanly.
Alternative: Trimming both ends of the tape on a slight angle can also help. Seal the cut edges with a quick pass of heat or fray stop to prevent unravelling.
