Hobbs Heirloom Premium 100% Wool Wadding brings out beautiful definition in your quilt's piecing and stitching.
This wadding / batting is one of the most sought after wadding due to its soft, luxurious feel and the way it brings out a quilter’s piecing and stitching. It needles wonderfully, maintains loft and has exceptional resilience.
Hobb's 100% Wool wadding is a lightweight, breathable batting that breathes naturally and is comfortable for use in all climates, even hot and humid climates! This wadding is made of the finest superwashed wool in the world – this superwashing process successfully smooths the scales on the wool fibers, making it pleasant to the touch and less likely to shrink.
This product, while lightweight, is also strong and resists bearding and migration.
And, it is one of the most popular waddings for use in ‘show quilts’ due to its wonderful affect on a quilter’s piecing and stitching, and because the wool doesn’t have a memory for creases, meaning quilts made with it will hang beautifully with nary a crease in sight!
Quilting/stitching should be every 4″ inches, or closer, and quilters may experience shrinkage of 3-5%.
***NEVER use high heat or steam with projects made with wool as it is very likely this will cause the wool to be felted, resulting in a dense, stiff batting that not only won’t drape well, this could cause bearding (bearding: the term used to describe batting poking through the fabric, generally in the stitch lines).***

Washing Instructions for Finished Quilt
Only wash in cold or cool water. NEVER wash quilted items made with wool wadding in warm or hot water.
It is recommended to air dry, though a finished quilted item can be tumble dried in a drier on air to cool setting.
