Product Description
Black Stripe with Rainbow Teeth & Pull | No.5 Continuous Zip
A little joy, neatly engineered. Black Stripe with Rainbow pairs tailored pinstripes with a metal-look rainbow coil that shifts through green, pink, blue and yellow with a subtle, iridescent sheen. It’s playful without being loud—just enough colour to lift a monochrome bag, brighten travel pouches, or add a signature detail to organisers and cases. Order by the ½ metre; when you buy multiples we supply them in one continuous length so you can cut exact runs for pockets and openings with minimal waste. Each ½ metre includes one #5 teardrop ring pull (silver-tone); add extras if you’d like double sliders or several shorter zips from the same length.
The construction is Size 5 (5 mm) continuous nylon coil—chosen for smooth feeding under a zipper foot and for being kinder to domestic needles than metal teeth. Coil flexes well around gussets and tidy boxed corners, lies flat for crisp top-stitching, and offers a comfortable glide in everyday use. If your priority is components that sew cleanly and wear well, this format earns its space in the notions tray.
Design-wise, the rainbow coil invites simple pairings: keep the bag body quiet (black, chalk, natural linen, denim) and let the zip do the talking; or echo one of the coil’s colours in a lining or webbing strap. Hardware is easy, too—nickel/silver-tone D-rings, sliders, triglides and swivel hooks sit happily alongside the multi-hued teeth without competing.
Because this is continuous zip, you set the brief. Feed sliders from either direction for single- or double-pull zips; trim precisely; and finish ends to suit your pattern—fold back and stitch for a neat stop, or seal carefully with a fray-preventer. It’s a flexible, workshop-friendly solution that supports good workmanship while adding a small, satisfying flash of colour.

Maker’s notes
-
Use a zipper foot and a steady, moderate stitch length for parallel top-stitching.
-
Basting tape keeps layers aligned; press lightly from the wrong side if needed.
-
You can stitch across nylon coil when a pattern requires it; avoid this on metal teeth.
-
To finish short ends, fold back the tape and stitch, or apply fray-prevention.
If you value components that support good workmanship and a cohesive finish, Black Stripe with Rainbow teeth is a versatile choice: flexible, easy to handle, and ready to coordinate with gold-tone hardware for a polished result across bags, pouches and home-sewn accessories.

✨ Attaching a Zipper Pull
- Separate the ends of the zip tape by a few centimetres to give yourself space.
- Place the slider so the flat side faces upward and the curved side points down.
- Insert the first side of the tape into the slider until it catches.
- Line up the second side carefully and feed it into the opposite channel.
- Push both sides in gently until the teeth begin to mesh.
- Slide the pull along the tape to check it’s secure and moving smoothly.
✂️ Snip Snip Tip: For easier threading, cut about 5 mm of the zipper teeth off one side of the tape. Feed the longer side with the teeth into the slider first, then the trimmed side — the stagger helps the pull catch and align cleanly.
Alternative: Trimming both ends of the tape on a slight angle can also help. Seal the cut edges with a quick pass of heat or fray stop to prevent unravelling.
