Quilt Binding Calculator

Person binding a handmade quilt

You’ve reached the binding stage — that means your quilt is nearly finished, and the last stitch is in sight. But before you can celebrate, there’s that fiddly calculation to figure out… and nobody wants to come up short on binding.

We’ve made it simple for you. Whether you think in inches or centimetres, this calculator works it all out — the total binding length you’ll need (with extra for piecing strips and turning corners), how many strips to cut, how much fabric you’ll actually use, and even a neat little conversion into quarter-metre increments so you know exactly what to order.
