Quilted "Rusty Tote" Sewing Workshop
A practical, beginner-friendly tote you’ll use again and again
Join Petra Vas for this relaxed and rewarding workshop where you’ll create your own Rusty Tote — a simple, stylish bag that’s as useful as it is satisfying to make.
Perfect for confident beginners, this class is a brilliant introduction to combining basic quilting techniques with bag making. By the end of the session, you’ll have a fully lined tote complete with two inner pockets and the option to add a Velcro or snap closure.
This is one of those projects that quickly becomes a favourite — ideal as a project bag, everyday tote, or a thoughtful handmade gift. Once you’ve made one, you’ll likely find yourself making more (and wondering why you ever bought a bag in the first place!).
What you'll learn
Throughout this 5-hour workshop, Petra will guide you step by step through:
• Cutting fabric accurately using a rotary cutter and ruler
• Basic quilting techniques to add structure and texture
• Creating sturdy handles using fusible interfacing
• Constructing and assembling a fully lined tote bag
• Adding practical inside pockets and an optional closure
By the end of the session, you’ll have a finished tote and the confidence to make more at home.
