Quilted Zip Pouch Sewing Workshop
A confidence-boosting sewing session with a practical finish
If you’ve been curious about zips but felt a bit intimidated, this friendly, hands-on workshop is a great place to start. Taught by Gabrielle, this relaxed session is designed for confident beginners who want to build skills and leave with a useful, well-finished project you’ll reach for again and again.
As long as you can sew a reasonably straight line, you can make this pouch. Once you’ve learned the construction, you may never buy another zip bag again — these versatile pouches are perfect for travel, storage, stationery, sewing supplies, and make thoughtful handmade gifts too. We’ll take things step by step, focusing on clear techniques and good habits, with plenty of guidance along the way, so you’ll feel confident making more at home in different sizes and fabrics.
What you'll learn
In this three-hour workshop, you’ll learn how to:
- Cut fabric accurately using a rotary cutter and ruler
- Apply fusible interfacing for structure and durability
- Attach and use a zipper foot and insert a zip neatly, including adding tab ends
- Construct a versatile zipped pouch with a useful internal pocket
What’s included
- All fabric, stabiliser, zip, and hardware (with colour options available)
- Use of class sewing machines and sewing tools
- Hot drinks and biscuits
- A supportive, relaxed learning environment — and a bit of fun
This workshop is all about building practical skills you’ll use again and again, in a friendly, supportive setting where questions are always welcome.
