Discover the mindful art of hand-stitched quilting
Join the lovely Kerry Keeble for a creative and relaxing one-day workshop exploring Kawandi, a traditional quilting technique from Western India. Using only a simple running stitch, you’ll create a colourful, textured piece while learning the sustainable practice of reusing fabrics. Perfect for beginners and experienced makers alike, this workshop offers a fresh, mindful approach to quilt making. Kawandi quilting can be used to create a full-size quilt, or as smaller panels for bags, cushions, and other quilted items.
What you’ll learn
Throughout the day, you’ll gain skills and tips to bring your Kawandi quilt to life, including:
- Choosing and placing fabrics for visual impact
- Unpicking garments to reuse as fabric
- Folding edges for a neat finish
- Selecting threads and creating textural interest
- Designing secondary patterns through purposeful fabric placement
You’ll also discover how this technique can be adapted for a variety of projects, from full-size quilts to smaller panels for bags, cushions, and other quilted creations.
