    Soft, Stable and Versatile Quilt Wadding

    Matilda’s Own Cotton & Polyester Blend Wadding combines the natural softness and breathability of cotton with the strength and stability of polyester. Designed and manufactured in Australia, these versatile waddings offer excellent stitch definition, comfortable drape and reliable performance for both hand and machine quilting.

    We stock two blends, each offering slightly different characteristics.

    80/20 Cotton Poly Wadding

    Made from 80% Australian cotton and 20% polyester, Matilda’s Own 80/20 Wadding has a traditional, low-loft feel with the added resilience of polyester.

    Needle-punched with a fine scrim for stability, it has an approximate loft of ⅛+ inch (3mm) and can be quilted up to 10" (25.4cm) apart. It is prewashed and preshrunk, with minimal shrinkage of approximately 2.5%.

    • 122" Extra Wide Cut to Length

    • Baby Size 48" × 60"

    70/30 Cotton Poly Scrim-Free Wadding

    Made from 70% premium cotton and 30% fine polyester, this blend offers a slightly higher loft while retaining the softness and breathability of cotton.

    With no scrim, needles pass smoothly through the layers with minimal resistance, making it an excellent choice for both hand and machine quilting. A quilting distance of approximately 6–8" is recommended.

    Which Blend Should I Choose?

    Choose 80/20 for a lower-loft, stable wadding with scrim, wider quilting distances and a choice of widths and sizes.

    Choose 70/30 Scrim-Free for a slightly loftier, softer wadding without scrim and particularly easy needling.

    Our cut-to-length wadding is measured and cut in-house at Morris Works and sent in plastic-free packaging.
