Slate from the Spritz 2 collection by Andover Fabrics is a refined blue-grey quilting cotton featuring the collection's signature tonal dot design. Thousands of tiny darker dots gather into soft clusters before fading across the fabric, creating subtle movement and depth while maintaining the versatility of a classic blender. Calm, understated and wonderfully adaptable, Slate bridges the gap between blue and grey with effortless style.
Its versatile colouring pairs beautifully with cool greys, navy, white, charcoal, soft blues, teals and muted greens, making it equally suited to modern quilts, coastal colour palettes and traditional patchwork. Use Slate for backgrounds, borders, sashing, bindings or quilt blocks, or incorporate it into appliqué, English Paper Piecing and bag making where a soft textured solid is needed.
Beyond quilting, Slate is ideal for cushions, table runners, pouches and other sewing projects where a gentle, sophisticated neutral adds quiet depth without dominating a design.
Made from 100% cotton with a weight of approximately 145gsm, this premium quilting fabric is smooth, stable and easy to cut, sew and press. Whether combined with the wider Spritz 2 palette or used as a standalone blender, Slate brings subtle texture and lasting versatility to every project.

This fabric is sold by the ¼ metre, to order 1 full metre, enter a quantity of 4. Quantities of 2 or more will be cut as one continuous piece.
If ordering only ¼ metre, please be sure to select if you would like a Long Quarter or Fat Quarter cut. Please see illustration below if unsure.

 | We cut our fabrics a little differently here at Morris Works, something we call Studio Cuts, specifically designed for quilters. The bonus - you get more fabric! Up to the first metre of fabric, we cut every ¼ metre increment up to 10" / 25.4cm. ¼ metre - Long Quarter: 10" wide by WOF, order quantity of 1, choose Long Quarter cut ¼ metre - Fat Quarter: 20" wide by ½ WOF, order quantity of 1, choose Fat Quarter cut ½ Metre: 20" wide by WOF, order quantity of 2 ¾ Metre: 30" wide by WOF, order quantity of 3 1 Metre: 40" wide by WOF, order quantity of 4 |
All quantities greater than 1 metre of fabric are cut to metric measurement. For example, 1.25 metre is cut to 49.2 inches / 125cm.
Care
This fabric is 100% cotton with a printed design. Manufacturer recommends to wash at 30 degrees or cooler. This fabric can be tumble dried on low-medium heat. The estimated shrinkage is between 3 - 5%.
