Product Description
Petal Ombre Zip | No.5 Continuous Zip
Softly tonal and easy to style, Petal Ombre brings a quiet wash of colour to neat, well-made projects. Both the tape and the teeth share the same pastel gradient—petal pink drifting into pale blue and back again—so the zip reads as a single, blended band of colour with no contrasting coil. It’s a calm accent for pouches, organisers and everyday bags where you want interest without noise.
Sold by the ½ metre, multiples are supplied in one continuous length, letting you cut exact runs for pockets, main openings and coordinated accessories with minimal offcuts. Each ½ metre includes one matching #5 teardrop ring pull in a silver tone; add extra pulls if you’re planning a double slider or several shorter zips from the same length.
Under the colour sits reliable engineering: Size 5 (5 mm) continuous nylon coil. Coil feeds smoothly under a zipper foot, is kinder to domestic needles than metal teeth, and flexes neatly around curves and boxed corners. The tape presses flat and accepts top-stitching cleanly, so parallel seams are easy to achieve.
Pairing is straightforward. Let the ombré be the highlight against natural linen, chambray, soft greys, or crisp whites; echo either pink or pale blue in the lining, webbing or zip ends to tie the palette together. As a continuous zip, you can feed sliders from either direction for single- or double-pull zips, trim to the millimetre, and finish ends to suit your pattern.

Maker’s notes
-
Use a zipper foot and a steady, moderate stitch length for parallel top-stitching.
-
Basting tape keeps layers aligned; press lightly from the wrong side if needed.
-
You can stitch across nylon coil when a pattern requires it; avoid this on metal teeth.
-
To finish short ends, fold back the tape and stitch, or apply fray-prevention.

✨ Attaching a Zipper Pull
- Separate the ends of the zip tape by a few centimetres to give yourself space.
- Place the slider so the flat side faces upward and the curved side points down.
- Insert the first side of the tape into the slider until it catches.
- Line up the second side carefully and feed it into the opposite channel.
- Push both sides in gently until the teeth begin to mesh.
- Slide the pull along the tape to check it’s secure and moving smoothly.
✂️ Snip Snip Tip: For easier threading, cut about 5 mm of the zipper teeth off one side of the tape. Feed the longer side with the teeth into the slider first, then the trimmed side — the stagger helps the pull catch and align cleanly.
Alternative: Trimming both ends of the tape on a slight angle can also help. Seal the cut edges with a quick pass of heat or fray stop to prevent unravelling.
