Product Description
Light Delft Blue from the Aurifil 8wt Collection
Classic blue with a smooth, porcelain finish
Light Delft Blue (2720) is a soft, mid-toned blue reminiscent of traditional porcelain glazes and classic hand-painted tiles. Its cool, calming presence makes it a versatile thread for adding gentle definition or tonal stitching to hand-sewn projects. Part of the Aurifil 8wt Collection, it combines elegance and function in a silky, low-lint format ideal for a range of stitching techniques.
Aurifil’s 8wt thread is the heaviest 2-ply cotton in the range, made from 100% long-staple Egyptian Mako cotton. Mercerised for extra sheen and strength, it offers excellent stitch clarity and minimal lint. Unlike traditional Perle cotton, this thread glides more smoothly through fabric and produces fewer knots and tangles—making it a pleasure to work with for hand quilting, embroidery, big stitch detail, and sashiko.
Use Light Delft Blue to enhance floral embroidery, outline motifs on pale or pastel backgrounds, or create understated contrast on cream, white, or soft grey surfaces. Its even twist and refined texture allow every stitch to stand out with crisp definition and consistent tension.
This thread also adapts well for decorative machine embellishment, provided the correct needle and tension settings are used. Whether your aesthetic leans traditional or contemporary, Light Delft Blue brings a touch of cool refinement to any stitch-focused design.
For thoughtful projects that call for both colour harmony and quality craftsmanship, Light Delft Blue is a timeless and reliable choice.
