Product Description
Achieve Crisp Seams and Flat Patchwork Blocks
This is the clapper most people reach for first, and there's a good reason for that.
At 6" x 6", it's small enough to keep right beside your ironing board without taking over the space, and light enough to use comfortably through a whole session of block piecing. It works exactly the same way as its bigger sibling: press your seam with a hot, steamy iron, then hold the clapper firmly over it for ten to fifteen seconds. The wood pulls the steam out of the fabric as it cools, and the seam sets flat instead of puffing back up.
It's a lovely size for block units, smaller quilts, hand-pieced work, and anywhere you want more control over exactly where you're pressing. If you've never used a clapper before and you're wondering whether it's worth the fuss — this is the one to start with. You'll notice the difference in your seams almost immediately.
Suitable for steam or dry irons, and just as useful for dressmaking and general sewing as it is for quilting.
