The Nordic Summer 2½" Strip Roll by Gudrun Erla of GE Designs for Andover Fabrics brings the colours and textures of an Icelandic summer together in a beautifully coordinated selection of ready-cut quilting strips.
Gudrun Erla was born and raised in Iceland, and Nordic Summer draws on the landscape and natural beauty of her homeland. Botanical prints filled with leaves, berries and delicate flowers mingle with organic textures and geometric motifs, giving the collection a lovely balance between nature-inspired detail and more graphic designs.
Its colour palette is particularly striking. Cool aqua and glacial blue lead into deeper blue-greens and mossy shades, while soft cream and fresh greens provide lighter contrast. At the other end of the palette, rich berry, plum and wine tones add warmth and depth. Together they create a collection that feels unmistakably Nordic, but with plenty of colour to play with.
This manufacturer-cut strip roll contains 40 strips, each measuring 2½" x 44". The combination of feature prints, smaller-scale patterns and contrasting values makes the roll particularly useful for strip-pieced quilts, log cabins, rail fence blocks and other patterns designed around 2½" strips.
Nordic Summer is a lovely choice if you enjoy nature-inspired fabrics but want something a little different from a traditional floral collection. Its mix of botanical detail, Nordic geometry and those deep, atmospheric colours gives it a character all its own.
