Product Description
No.5 Continuous Zip in Lilac
Soft, subtle, and versatile, this No.5 continuous zipper tape in Lilac is a gentle accent for handmade bags, accessories, and home décor projects. Sold by the ½ metre, it’s supplied in one continuous length when you order more than one unit, so you can cut exactly what you need for your project. Each ½ metre includes one matching rectangular #5 pull; extra pulls are available separately so you can set up either single- or double-pull zips with ease.
Made from nylon coil, this zip delivers a smooth glide and flexible strength. It curves neatly around gussets and boxed corners, lies flat under top-stitching, and won’t damage machine needles like metal teeth can. The No.5 coil width (5 mm) gives a reassuring sturdiness for everyday makes—ideal for handbags, backpacks, pouches, toiletry cases, project organisers, and home décor items like cushions and storage baskets.
The continuous format offers full control: cut to any length, insert sliders from either direction, and tailor the closure to your project’s needs. With tape, coil, and pull all dyed in a matching Lilac shade, this zip provides a soft, coordinated look that pairs beautifully with pastels, florals, or bold prints needing a calming accent.

Maker’s notes
-
A zipper foot and a medium stitch length give tidy, even seams.
-
Use double-sided basting tape to keep layers aligned while sewing.
-
To finish ends, fold back the tape and stitch down, or enclose with a fabric tab.
-
Nylon coil can be safely stitched across if required; avoid stitching across metal teeth.
Practical yet elegant, this Lilac No.5 continuous zip is a flexible, easy-to-use closure that adds a polished, professional look to your handmade projects—calm, coordinated, and quietly distinctive.

✨ Attaching a Zipper Pull
- Separate the ends of the zip tape by a few centimetres to give yourself space.
- Place the slider so the flat side faces upward and the curved side points down.
- Insert the first side of the tape into the slider until it catches.
- Line up the second side carefully and feed it into the opposite channel.
- Push both sides in gently until the teeth begin to mesh.
- Slide the pull along the tape to check it’s secure and moving smoothly.
✂️ Snip Snip Tip: For easier threading, cut about 5 mm of the zipper teeth off one side of the tape. Feed the longer side with the teeth into the slider first, then the trimmed side — the stagger helps the pull catch and align cleanly.
Alternative: Trimming both ends of the tape on a slight angle can also help. Seal the cut edges with a quick pass of heat or fray stop to prevent unravelling.
