Vlieseline H 640 is a soft, medium-loft fusible batting designed to add gentle volume, warmth, and stability to a wide range of sewing projects. As the thickest iron-on batting in the Vlieseline range, it offers reliable resilience while remaining lightweight and easy to handle. Made from synthetic fibres, H 640 features a single-sided adhesive coating, allowing it to bond neatly to fabric with a hot iron for a smooth, secure finish without shifting during stitching.
This versatile batting is ideal for quilting and topstitch work, where its loft enhances definition and texture, making stitches stand out beautifully. It is also well-suited for relief and three-dimensional sewing, such as voluminous bows, braids, borders, or padded appliqué work. For garment sewing, H 640 provides a soft layer of warmth and structure, making it an excellent choice for coats, jackets, and other outerwear. It works best with light- to medium-weight fabrics and can be used in both patchwork projects and clothing construction.
Processing is straightforward: place the coated side against the reverse of the fabric, cover with a damp cloth, and press section by section for around 15 seconds without pushing the iron. After fusing, lay pieces flat for 30 minutes to stabilise the bond. At 132 g/m² and 90 cm wide, H 640 is easy to cut, sew, and quilt, ensuring a professional finish.
