This contrasting variegated thread has multiple colours and shades throughout the length of the thread which will produce a gradient effect when stitched. This is a great thread which will intermix with fabrics of these colours. This is also a great thread to use on your background fabric to highlight these same colours in your patchwork.
Aurifil’s 50wt/2ply thread is their most versatile and most popular Cotton thread. It is available in all 270 of their Cotton colors, and is wound on the iconic orange spool.
The 50wt is strong and thin, and results in remarkably flat and crisp seams. While it is wonderful for piecing, subtle quilting & topstitching, and English Paper Piecing it also works incredibly well for Needle Turn Applique, Bobbin and Machine Lace, Machine Applique (Straight Stitch, ZigZag, Blind Hem and Blanket Stitch,) Machine Embroidery, Dense Machine Quilting, Subtle Machine and Longarm Quilting, Basting, Whole Cloth and Micro Quilting, and Dense Background Designs.
Bobbin: Aurifil 50wt for Domestic and Longarm machines.
Needle: 70/10 or 80/12 Microtex/Sharp, Universal, Quilting, or Denim Needle for Domestic machines || 4.0 Needle for Longarm Machines.
Washing Instructions:
- Machine wash in cold to warm water - no more than 60C / 140F
- Tumble dry at low to no heat
- Iron on low heat
- Launder without bleach
