Lemon (2115) is a clear, sunny yellow with a hint of zest—a perfect choice for stitching that calls for a lift of brightness and clarity. Part of the Aurifil 8wt Collection, this cheerful thread brings energy and optimism to decorative stitching, hand quilting, and embroidery work across both modern and traditional designs.
Aurifil’s 8wt thread is a 2-ply, heavy cotton made from 100% long-staple Egyptian Mako cotton. It’s mercerised for added sheen and strength, resulting in a smooth, low-lint thread that glides effortlessly through fabric. Ideal for big stitch quilting, sashiko, redwork, or hand embellishment, it offers a sophisticated alternative to Perle cotton with more control and less fuzz.
Lemon is excellent for outlining motifs, adding eye-catching accents, or bringing contrast to cool greys, pastels, or darker prints. Its consistent twist and luminous finish ensure that each stitch appears crisp and intentional, whether used sparingly or in abundance.
Compared to #8 Perle cotton, Aurifil 8wt is smoother to handle and easier to thread, with fewer tangles and a more refined finish. It’s also suitable for decorative machine stitching with the correct settings and needle adjustments.

Recommended Hand Needles: Crewel Size 5 / Tapestry Size 24 or 26
Washing Instructions:
- Machine wash in cold to warm water - no more than 70C / 160F
- Tumble dry at low to no heat
- Iron on low heat
- Can be laundered with bleach (if necessary) in cold water only
