Aurifil’s 8wt thread is a 2-ply, heavy cotton thread made from 100% long-staple Egyptian Mako cotton. Mercerised for strength and sheen, it has a smooth twist and produces very low lint—making it a refined alternative to Perle cotton for sashiko, big stitch quilting, hand embroidery, and surface embellishment.
Dove is a quiet achiever—subtle enough to blend with low-volume prints, yet crisp enough to define outlines and detail when used on darker fabrics. Its silken finish brings a gentle luminosity to hand quilting, visible mending, and tonal embroidery work, adding polish without distraction.

Washing Instructions:
- Machine wash in cold to warm water - no more than 70C / 160F
- Tumble dry at low to no heat
- Iron on low heat
- Can be laundered with bleach (if necessary) in cold water only
