Product Description
Black, Greys & White Polyester Webbing, 40 mm | Sold by the Metre
Stephanoise polyester webbing designed for bag handles, adjustable straps, fabric baskets, and organisers. Sold by the metre, and supplied in one continuous length when you order multiples, it lets you cut long runs without unnecessary joins. This version features a double-sided plain weave in black, greys and white—reversible, so either face can be used outward for a tidy, graphic finish. The width is 40 mm (approx. 1½"), giving a comfortable shoulder strap and confident carry handles with good surface coverage on anchor points.
Made from polyester, the tape is strong, abrasion-resistant and colourfast. The soft hand sits comfortably on the shoulder while still keeping a neat profile. Polyester edges can be heat-sealed to control fray; press only on low heat with a press cloth to avoid glazing. The weave is stable, feeds smoothly under the presser foot, and takes topstitching cleanly for precise strap construction. Compared with cotton, polyester offers better moisture resistance—useful for bags that see daily weather or travel.
Use hardware that matches the tape width for a professional result. Pair with 40 mm D-rings, sliders, triglides, and swivel hooks to maintain smooth movement and prevent buckling. The monochrome palette works with nickel, gunmetal, matte black or antique brass fittings; choose to echo the greys for a quiet look or contrast deliberately against coloured fabrics.
Ends can be finished by turning under and topstitching, enclosing in a fabric tab, or by carefully fusing the cut edge and then stitching for belt-style ends. A slightly longer stitch length (around 3–3.5 mm) avoids compressing the weave and keeps lines even. Reinforce high-stress points with a box-and-cross or bar-tacks.

Plan hardware clearances carefully—40 mm internal width avoids drag and keeps strap adjustments smooth.
-
Weather-ready: polyester is more water-resistant than cotton; ideal for travel and everyday outdoor use.
